Andy Martin Flamenco 2011
Andy has been making beautiful classical and flamenco guitars since 2012. He made his first flamenco guitar at the European Institute of Guitar Making under Stephen Hills masterly gaze. He thoroughly enjoyed the month long course and finally hearing the guitar with strings on for the first time was quite an emotional experience. Although the course was quite intensive, it was not pressurised and with a lovely guitar at the end, it more than met Andy’s expectations.
Having grown up in Central Africa, he wanted Africa in his first guitar! After some detailed wood research he chose a lovely piece of figured Black Limba (Terminalia Superba) for the back and sides of his creation. Black Limba grows in Central and West Africa and has been cultivated in sustainable plantations for many years.
You can see an “Elf like” face in the back of the guitar which lead to him to name the guitar El Duende, which in Spanish means the Flamenco Spirit.
The guitar has been well cared for and has been recently repolished. Duende is now ready for someone new to treaure the experience of owning and playing a traditional hand crafted flamenco guitar.
